Since the 2012 healthcare reform, statutory health insurance companies have been able to cover all or part of the costs of non-prescription but pharmacy-only medicines. You can have these so-called OTC preparations prescribed with a green prescription or a private prescription. You can then submit the redeemed prescription and the receipt from the pharmacy to your health insurance fund for reimbursement – also collectively towards the end of the year. Depending on the health insurance fund, the maximum reimbursement amount can be between 30 euros and 500 euros per year.
