Methemoglobinemia in childhood (a threatening reduction in the transport of oxygen in the blood that occurs after poisoning).
Store in the refrigerator at +2 °C to +8 °C. After opening, consume within 24 hours. Centricor® Forte Vitamin C Durchstechflasche is used by a doctor. Preservative-free preparation – chemical and physical stability after opening at +2 °C to +8 °C for 24 hours. From a microbiological point of view, the medicinal product should be used immediately unless the container has been opened under controlled and validated aseptic conditions.
Centricor® Forte Vitamin C Durchstechflasche is intended for peripheral venous injection. Generally, vitamin C preparations are preferable for ingestion.
Adults:
Prevention (prophylaxis) of vitamin C deficiency: intravenously 100 to 200 mg ascorbic acid (vitamin C) per day
Treatment of vitamin C deficiency/scorbut: intravenously up to 500 mg ascorbic acid (vitamin C) per day
Children and adolescents: Prevention (prophylaxis) of vitamin C deficiency: 5-10 mg per kg body weight per day, up to a maximum of 100 mg per day
Treatment of vitamin C deficiency/scorbut in school-age children (6 years and older):
Increase to a maximum of 300 mg per day possible. Injection solutions with other strengths are also available for low dosages.
Methemoglobinemia in children and adolescents:
Patients with renal and/or hepatic dysfunction:
Please talk to your doctor about possible dose adjustment if you have renal disease. In patients with kidney stone formation, the daily vitamin C dose should not exceed 100 to 200 mg of vitamin C per day. Centricor® Forte Vitamin Durchstechflasche should not be used in cases of kidney stones formed from oxalate. Patients with severe renal insufficiency (dialysis patients) should not receive more than 50 to 100 mg of vitamin C per day.
Patients with hepatic impairment: No dosing information is available.
Patients with erythrocytic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency: Please talk to your doctor about possible dose adjustment if you have the inborn error of metabolism glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD). Avoid exceeding the dosage of 100-500 mg ascorbic acid daily.
Your doctor will decide on the duration of use based on the course of the disease and blood values.
Centricor® Forte Vitamin C vial is injected slowly intravenously (into the veins) by your doctor or other healthcare professional. In general, vitamin C preparations are preferable for ingestion. Your doctor should only prescribe intravenous vitamin C if oral preparations are not possible or not sufficiently effective.
In the case of artificial nutrition, it is administered as a separate injection.
The Centricor® Forte Vitamin C vial contains 50 ml of solution for injection. 1 ml of solution for injection contains 200 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). One bottle of Centricor® Forte thus contains 10 g of vitamin C. Other ingredients: Sodium hydrogen carbonate, water for injection.
